The village of Lagares has incredible views of mountainside to be enjoyed. You can reach the mountains within half an hour and here you have the 27 hole Montebelo golf course. This special course provides the chance to enjoy your sport whilst you take in the breath taking and picturesque Serra do Caramulo and Serra da Estrella mountain ranges.
The busy town of Sao Pedro de Alva is merely four km journey from Lagares. There you will be able to visit banks, the post office, health clinic, both primary and secondary schools and yet more cafe’s and bars to choose from. For more stores and choice of facilities you can reach Penacova, Mortagua, Santa Comba Dao or Coimbra within 15 to 30 min’s. Coimbra is of particular interest, hosting the second oldest university in the world, the Universidade de Coimbra, which makes for an interesting day out. This institution of higher learning was founded in 1290. The marvellous architecture and appeal of Coimbra will offer endless opportunities to explore. Close by\Just 10 min’s away is Conimbriga, where you could visit the notable Roman ruins which are open for visitors.
Lagares is in the central area of Portugal, within close proximity to some stunning areas, including the Serra da Estrella National Park that sits an hour’s drive east. There is also the potential to take a trip to various coastal locations, the closest at Figueira da Foz just 45 minutes drive away.
